What Does it Mean to Be a Good Lover?

What does it mean to be a good lover?

From my perspective – It requires an awareness of the nuances of giving and receiving.

It’s not always unidirectional.

The bounds of the exchange are permeable.

This is why it’s important for men to develop a sensitivity, to develop their feminine receptivity.

Because the dance of giving requires an awareness of feeling what is given, as well as how the giving is being received.

It’s a feedback loop. A dance.

The attunement allows for an innate knowing of how to give next.

Otherwise, the giving becomes selfish. The giving becomes taking.

I know many of you know what I’m referring to.

It’s akin to giving love, in a way different than how another desires to be loved.

“But this is how I love!”

And, when we truly love, we are willing to learn how the other desires to be loved, and adjust accordingly if it’s within the bounds of what we are comfortable with.

The same goes for pleasure.

This also requires the giving (masculine) nature of the woman to arise for her to give her partner a chance to receive.

As I move further along this path, I’m noticing the fluidity of the polarities.

Everyone has a right to interpret their own gender – and the polarities go beyond that. It’s all about what you are wanting, and what feels aligned for you.

Sometimes I love receiving, at others I love giving.

And as always, balance is key, as well is being able to communicate what it is that you want.
